Dr. Nikhil Kenny Thomas, Consultant Gastroenterologist at Dr. KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, successfully performed an EUS-guided gastrojejunostomy (EUS-GJ) in a 90-year-old patient presenting with duodenal outlet obstruction due to periampullary carcinoma. This advanced, minimally invasive endoscopic procedure offers a safe and effective alternative to surgical bypass, especially in high-risk elderly patients. The achievement highlights the importance of precision, clinical expertise and coordinated multidisciplinary teamwork in ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
