Newer Modality of Endoscopic Resection for Rectal Tumour Performed Without Surgery at KMC Hospital, Chengannur

A 79-year-old male patient with multiple comorbidities and a post-nephrectomy status was successfully treated for a large rectal laterally spreading tumour measuring 6.5 × 5 cm through an advanced endoscopic procedure. The patient underwent Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) and had an uneventful recovery with no post-operative complications. The procedure was performed by Dr. Anup S Nair, Consultant Gastroenterologist, KMC Hospital. ESD is a minimally invasive technique used for removing precancerous and early-stage cancerous lesions of the gastrointestinal tract.
