Unveiling the 2nd edition of the ever-popular book 'An Insider's Guide to Cases in Clinical Medicine' — written to bridge the gap between clinical medicine and real-world care, co-edited by Dr. Nikhil Kenny Thomas (Consultant gastroenterologist, KMC Hospital).

An 80-year-old female patient with life-threatening obstructive jaundice (total bilirubin 30 mg/dl) underwent ERCP with bilateral hepatic stenting under the care of Dr. Nikhil Kenny Thomas, Consultant Gastroenterologist at Dr. KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences. The outcome was remarkable—her bilirubin level dropped to 13 mg/dl within just one day, marking a rapid and significant improvement. Inauguration of the B.Sc. courses affiliated with Mumbai Tata Institute of Social Sciences was held at Dr. KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, Chengannur. The event was inaugurated by the Managing Director, Rev. Fr. Dr. Alexander Koodarathil. He stated that the four-year degree courses are structured in such a way that students can gain hands-on experience through advanced laboratory facilities along with their studies. Dr. Geevarghese K. As part of PINK PROMISE – One-year Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, Dr. KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences in collaboration with MRI Residents association, organized the cancer awareness class at Evershine Residential School, Pathanamthitta. The session was led by Dr. Sarah J. Easaw (Medical Director & Consultant Oncologist, Oncology Centre, KMC Hospital). Mr. K. R. Ajith Kumar (Chairman, Development Standing Committee, Pathanamthitta Municipality) and Mr. Abel Mathew (Secretary, MRA Residents Association) were present.

Department of Multi-organ Transplant at Dr. KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, in collaboration with MRA Association, Pathanamthitta, organized the Round Chair Community Influencers Meet-up – ‘Meet the Medic’ at Evershine Residential School, Pathanamthitta. The sessions included ‘Early Detection and Prevention of Kidney Disease’ by Dr. Appu Jose (Consultant Nephrologist, KMC Hospital) and ‘Introduction to Kidney Transplant’ by Mr. Aneesh P. V (Transplant Coordinator, KMC Hospital).

Mr. Stanley Chiminikire, Government Representative of Zimbabwe and Chief of Sake, visited KMC Hospital to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of healthcare centers in collaboration with the Government of Zimbabwe in its capital city, Harare. Rev. Fr. Dr. Alexander Koodarathil, Managing Director, KMC Hospital, stated that in this agreement, various super specialty treatments will be provided to Zimbabwean citizens under the leadership of KMC Hospital. He further announced that the hospital’s services would soon be expanded to other East African countries as well. Dr. Merit Sigauke also took part in the discussions.
