In observance of World Blood Donor Day 2026, Department of Transfusion Medicine at Dr. KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, Chengannur, organized an awareness session and voluntary blood donation camp.
The function was presided over by Dr. Pooja Raghunath (Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr. KMC Hospital). An informative session on voluntary blood donation was delivered by Dr. Junith Thomas (Consultant Transfusion Medicine, Dr. KMC Hospital), highlighting the importance of regular blood donation and its life-saving impact.
As part of the event, dedicated blood donors were honoured for their remarkable contributions and inspiring blood donation experiences were shared. Felicitation speeches were delivered by Dr. Sarah J. Easaw (Medical Director and Consultant Oncologist, Oncology Centre, Dr. KMC Hospital) and Dr. Sunil Agarwal (Consultant Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeon). The programme concluded with a blood donation pledge, reaffirming the commitment to support patients in need through voluntary blood donation.
