Dr. KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, in collaboration with the Maldives government have been initiated the steps to establish drug rehabilitation centers across various islands in the Maldives. The Maldivian Minister for Homeland Affairs and Technology & the CEO of the National Drug Agency, Mr. Muhammad Rashid visited KMC Hospital to discuss the necessary arrangements to open the drug rehabilitation centers in Maldives, to be operated by KMC Hospital.

KMC Hospital will deliver international-standard drug rehabilitation services and comprehensive super-specialty healthcare to Maldivian nationals, in collaboration with the Maldives government.

The delegation led by the minister also included Mr. Musthafa Hussain (Sr. Political Director, Ministry of Homeland Security & Technology), Ms. Aishath Zoona Mohamed (Director, Quality Assurance, Maldives National Drug Agency) and Ms. Azuleena Ali (Program Officer, Quality Assurance, Maldives National Drug Agency).

Under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Dr. Alexander Koodarathil (Managing Director, KMC Hospital), with three decades of specialized experience in de-addiction treatment in Kerala, a delegation from KMC Hospital visited the Maldives in February upon invitation from Govt. of Maldives and Indian High Commission, conducting high-level discussions with various ministers.
