As part of World Obesity Day, Minimally Invasive And Laparoscopic Surgery team of Dr. KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, Chengannur, successfully conducted ‘KMC Pamba Dream Run’ on 4th March.
Over 150 people including the residents of Chengannur, Doctors and Staff of KMC Hospital participated in the race which was flagged off by Shri. Binukumar, Chengannur DySP.
The race started from Chengannur and passed along the banks of Pamba river and ended at KMC Hospital. Circle Inspector of Chengannur, Shri. A. C. Vipin distributed the prizes to the winners Mr. Aromal (first), Mr. Mobin (second) and Mr. Suresh K. S (third).
Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. Anand Srinivasan and Consultant Radiologist, Dr. Naveen J. Tom also came in first ten.
In the ceremony that followed, Consultants Minimally Invasive and Laparoscopic Surgeon of the hospital, Dr. Farish Shamsuddin conducted an awareness class.
Hospital Managing Director Rev. Fr. Dr. Alexander Koodarathil said “Lack of exercise is the main source of diseases”. He continued to say that “advanced treatment methods to treat obesity have been started in the hospital”. He said that the number of foreign nationals coming to the hospital for bariatric surgery has increased. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Naveen Pillai, COO Shri. Sebi Poulose also were present at the function.
