Dr. KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, Chengannur, has launched a year-long public health awareness initiative, ‘Dr. KMC Karalsparsham’, to create greater awareness about liver diseases among the public. The initiative was inaugurated by Shri M. Liju, Hon’ble Minister for Excise and Cooperation, Kerala.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Alexander Koodarathil, Managing Director of the hospital, stated that the extensive initiative would be implemented with the participation of chairpersons, presidents, elected representatives, health inspectors, Kudumbashree workers and ASHA workers from municipalities and panchayats across Kerala.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Shri Kodikunnil Suresh, MP, while Dr. M. V. Pillai, internationally renowned cancer specialist, delivered the keynote address.
Shri. R. D. Ajith, IPS (Retd.), Advisor to the hospital’s Trauma Care Awareness Programme (ATPP), was felicitated during the event. Around 35 municipal chairpersons and panchayat presidents participated in the programme and expressed their support for the liver disease awareness initiative.

Prasad, President of Mannar Grama Panchayat; Smt. Jessy Koshi, President of Krishnapuram Grama Panchayat; Shri. Pramod Kumari, President of Budhanoor Grama Panchayat; Smt. Gigi Kunjukunju, President of Pandanad Grama Panchayat; Smt. Aneesha Biju, President of Ala Grama Panchayat; Smt. Ancy Bijoy, President of Edathua Grama Panchayat and Shri Stanley Samuel, Vice President of Eraviperoor Grama Panchayat.
The representatives reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the initiative and strengthening public awareness of liver diseases across the state.
