Chengannur Dr. KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences becomes South Kerala’s First ‘Toofan Care Plus’ Hospital.
The inauguration of ‘Dr. KMC Toofan Care Plus’—implemented by the deaddiction department of Dr. K.M. Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, Chengannur, in collaboration with the Government of Kerala against substance abuse—was done by the Minister for Home Affairs, Shri. Ramesh Chennithala. The ‘Bridge’ campaign, a ‘Toofan Care Plus’ awareness project being implemented across Kerala in partnership with the government, was also launched.
Dr. KMC Hospital Managing Director Rev. Fr. Dr. Alexander Koodarathil stated that as part of the Kerala Government’s ‘Operation Toofan Care Plus’ project, the hospital would provide leadership in offering treatment along with rehabilitation and counseling for those struggling with drug addiction.
At the ceremony presided over by Shri. Saji Cherian MLA, the Alappuzha District Police Chief Shri. Vishnu Pradeep T.K. delivered the Toofan Project Presentation.
Former Chief Secretary Shri. Jiji Thomson, Dr. KMC Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Geevarghese Mathew, and Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Ruben John spoke at the event.
Representatives from political, social, and cultural leadership, educational institutions, government organizations, and social welfare voluntary groups participated in the function.
